The Lord is up and waiting on me
It doesn't pay to be tardy
I may be bent, but my hoe is straight
With a sharp new edge, I just can't wait
The garden has weeds, came up yesterday
There's quite a few, but that's okay
I love to work the earth you see
Like so many others, came before me
I work in the garden to pass the time
Remember family, friends of mine
They've moved on to a better place
A joyous time when I see their faces
But I'm wasting time, those weeds are growing
There's seed to plant, the grass needs mowing
I'd love to visit, but can't you see
The Lord is up and waiting on me
